The ACE Microsoft Innovation Center (MIC) serves as a pivotal hub for fostering collaboration and innovation among software developers, IT professionals, students, academics, and entrepreneurs. Established in September 2013, the center is dedicated to advancing IT-based research, product development, and industry partnerships. It offers access to cutting-edge resources and platforms from Microsoft, enhancing skill development and promoting strong industry-institute interactions.

Inauguration and Mission

Inaugurated by Mr. Phani Kondapudi, Director – Academic Programs, Microsoft Corporation (India) Pvt Ltd., the ACE MIC aims to connect individuals and organizations within the software ecosystem. It facilitates collaborative opportunities for skills development, product management, and technology advancement. The center’s mission includes showcasing student talents on national and international stages through events like the Imagine Cup and hackathons.

Establishment Journey

ACE’s journey with Microsoft India began in July 2013 with an MIC Coach Visit, followed by workshops and ideation fests to cultivate innovative ideas using Microsoft products. Over 150 student ideas were submitted, with 70 selected for further development and presentation to Microsoft software professionals. This effort culminated in ACE earning the esteemed status of a Microsoft Innovation Center, formalized through a memorandum of understanding signed between ACE and Microsoft.

Achievements and Impact

The ACE MIC has been instrumental in nurturing groundbreaking projects such as “LuckyTiles” and “Digital Slate,” which were successfully launched on the Microsoft Windows Phone App Store. Notable achievements also include students earning certifications in Microsoft Technology Associate (MTA) exams and the development of “The Slate,” an educational app that garnered recognition and awards at national-level technical symposiums.

Looking ahead, ACE MIC continues to empower students and faculty to innovate and excel in the digital realm. The center remains committed to bridging the gap between academia and industry, preparing students to thrive in the ever-evolving technology landscape.
